Most social work classes and most social work journals require writing to be in APA format. You can find assistance from the APA Style website; the Purdue Online Writing Lab also has an excellent guide for APA style, as well as writing in general. While following a particular style of writing can seem tedious or archaic in the age of tweets and blogs, it is not unlike dressing up for an interview: it helps people see what you have to say without being distracted by how you look (or write). You might also refresh your thinking on avoiding plagiarism.
